Lead-added EN1A — the fastest machining grade we produce. EN1A PB is EN1A with lead deliberately added at 0.15–0.35%. The "PB" is simply the chemical symbol for lead. In our system and across much of the trade the same steel is also called 12L14.

Key advantage
Lead acts as an internal lubricant at the cutting edge
Fine lead particles smear at the tool face and reduce friction as the chip forms. Combined with EN1A's chip-breaking sulphides, this gives the highest cutting speeds, longest tool life and best off-the-tool surface finish of any grade in our range.
